OUR HISTORY
2015 The start of Formal Food and 2018 the export market
We started our company FORMAL FOOD AND COMPANY SAS as a consumer food business under an innovative model: the sale of products through mobile carts , which traveled the streets or attended business and private events.
After three years of facing various regulatory barriers—such as the ban on selling in public spaces—and finding no clear path to profitability, we decided to change our business model and the company's name.
We then decided to begin exporting lemons to the United States, a business that represented our second setback, but also one of our greatest learning curves. During this stage, we fell victim to fraud and lost all our capital.
We traveled to New York to recover the money and, at the same time, explore new opportunities for our young export company. The first didn't happen, but we did discover the second: the great potential of soursop , provided we could market it in a different form and presentation.
2020 Innovation as a pillar of Formal Food and 2021 the American company
.
We returned to Colombia with the mission of finding or developing a different product that we could produce and sell in the United States, but that was not processed, that was 100% natural , without preservatives or additives and, most importantly, that preserved all the organoleptic and nutritional properties of the fruit.
Thus, by combining technology and creativity, we developed a completely different product: our soursop snack .
After two years of product development and market testing, we decided to create FORMAL FOOD LLC in the United States, with the goal of importing and distributing directly. We believed this was the ideal strategy to reach the largest possible number of consumers, gain firsthand market knowledge, and, in the future, incorporate new products into our portfolio.
2024 Company opening in Spain and 2025 portfolio expansion
.
After learning from the US market, we decided to open a subsidiary in Spain to import and distribute to the European market. Thus, FORMAL FOOD SL was born.
Leveraging our acquired knowledge and marketing capabilities in markets like the United States and Spain, as well as our direct presence there, we decided to expand Formal Food's brand portfolio and establish a new corporate structure.
Formal Food became the umbrella brand and we introduced two new brands in the CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) category: NUESTRA Foods and MÚKURA.
